Driver Agreement
The terms for driving with Ridelynk in King County and Seattle.
Last updated:
Effective October 2026.
This Driver Agreement applies to everyone who drives with Ridelynk, in addition to our Terms & Conditions. You accept it in the driver app before you can go online. Where it conflicts with the Terms, this Agreement controls for drivers.
1. Our relationship
You are an independent provider, not an employee of Ridelynk. You choose when and whether to log in and which trips to accept, and you are responsible for your own taxes.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 20 years old.
- You must hold a valid driver's licence and keep it valid while you drive.
- Your vehicle must be no more than 15 years old and pass the required safety inspections.
3. King County and City of Seattle requirements
To drive in King County or Seattle you must meet every requirement of King County Code chapter 6.64 and Seattle Municipal Code chapter 6.310, including:
- A King County for-hire driver licence (permit), kept current.
- A criminal background check by fingerprinting (FBI / Washington State Patrol) or a County-approved third-party provider, which Ridelynk reviews and records.
- A review of your driving record (driver's abstract / MVR) by Ridelynk.
- Completion of County-approved driver training and passing the exam.
- Completion of National Safety Council Defensive Driver Training.
- A self-certification that you are physically and mentally fit to provide for-hire service.
- A unique vehicle endorsement number for your vehicle, with the County decal displayed in the windshield.
- An initial and an annual vehicle safety inspection.
You must tell Ridelynk promptly, in the app, if you are convicted of a crime, involved in a traffic collision while driving with Ridelynk, or your driver's licence is suspended or revoked. Ridelynk is required to notify King County of these events.
4. Insurance disclosures
The following disclosures are required by King County Code 6.64.251 and RCW 46.72B.180:
Ridelynk confirms that while driver [driver's full name] is active on the application dispatch system, the driver's vehicle is insured as required by K.C.C. chapter 6.64 and SMC chapter 6.310
WHILE OPERATING ON THE DIGITAL NETWORK OR SOFTWARE APPLICATION OF THE COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES PROVIDER, YOUR PRIVATE PASSENGER AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE POLICY MIGHT NOT AFFORD LIABILITY, UNDERINSURED MOTORIST, PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION, COMPREHENSIVE, OR COLLISION COVERAGE, DEPENDING ON THE TERMS OF THE POLICY.
IF THE VEHICLE THAT YOU PLAN TO USE TO PROVIDE COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR OUR COMPANY HAS A LIEN AGAINST IT, YOU MUST NOTIFY THE LIENHOLDER THAT YOU WILL BE USING THE VEHICLE FOR COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES THAT MAY VIOLATE THE TERMS OF YOUR CONTRACT WITH THE LIENHOLDER.
You must keep proof of insurance in your vehicle at all times while driving with Ridelynk and show it on request to a rider, law enforcement, or a King County or City of Seattle inspector.
5. Zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy
You must never drive while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or impairing medication while logged in. If a rider reports that you appeared impaired, your account is suspended immediately while we investigate. See the Zero-Tolerance Drug & Alcohol Policy.
6. Non-discrimination and accessibility
You must serve every rider without discrimination, accept service animals, and stow folding mobility devices, as set out in our Non-Discrimination Policy and Accessibility page.
7. Card-only payments
All fares are charged through the Ridelynk app. You must not request or accept cash or any other payment from a rider outside the app. Tips given in the app go 100% to you.
8. Minimum pay
Your pay for each trip will be at least the minimum required by Washington State law (RCW 49.46.210) and, for trips that start in Seattle, by the City of Seattle. Minimum pay is calculated on passenger-platform time and miles — from when you accept a trip until drop-off — with a per-trip floor, and is adjusted each year by the Washington Department of Labor & Industries. If the fare-based pay for a trip is below the minimum, Ridelynk adds the difference.
9. Deactivation and appeals
Ridelynk may deactivate you only under the Driver Deactivation Policy. You will receive at least 14 days' written notice with the reason, except for egregious misconduct (safety, zero tolerance or fraud), and you can appeal in the driver app.
10. Records
Ridelynk keeps your licensing, background-check, insurance, training and trip records for at least 2 years, as King County and the City of Seattle require, and may share them with those regulators.
